Shares of Spero Therapeutics climbed 16% after the FDA approved Utebzi, an oral carbapenem developed with GSK to treat complicated urinary tract infections in adults with limited oral options. Utebzi is the first oral carbapenem approved in the U.S.; the approval is based on the Phase III PIVOT-PO study, which showed noninferiority to intravenous imipenem‑cilastatin.
