Major music companies achieved average streaming growth of 8.3% in Q2 2026, while Spotify reported 14.6%, shrinking the gap to 7 percentage points (down from a peak of 17 points in Q2 2024). Spotify’s board approved an increase of the share buyback program by $1.5 billion, boosting the authorized amount to about $2.223 billion. Under the expanded program, $723 million remains available from the existing authorization. Repurchases will depend on price, business and market conditions and will be conducted in accordance with SEC rules; they may be suspended or terminated at any time.
