Unipol plans to acquire 635 branches from Intesa as part of the proposed takeover of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena and intends to integrate the bank with BPER to create a new Banca Monte dei Paschi. The transaction is conditional on the successful MPS deal; a €2.5 billion capital increase is planned to finance it.
