Usiminas doubles quarterly profit thanks to currency gains

Usiminas reports a net profit of 896 million reais for the first quarter, an increase of 166% year-on-year and well above analysts' expectations of 190.9 million reais. Net revenues fell 14% to 5.87 billion reais, accompanied by an 8% decline in steel shipments to 1 million tonnes and a 12% drop in iron ore sales to 1.95 million tonnes. Usiminas increases free cash flow by 118% and significantly reduces net debt in Q3 2025

Usiminas generated a free cash flow of R$613 million in the third quarter of 2025 (+118%) despite difficult market conditions, with group revenue stable at R$6,604 million. Adjusted EBITDA rose 6% to R$434 million, while net income was hit by an impairment of R$2.2 billion and deferred taxes, resulting in a net loss of R$3,503 million. Net debt fell 69% to R$327 million, the leverage ratio improved to 0.16x, and investments amounted to R$247 million.
