Yamaha brings the R7 back after a hiatus and has comprehensively revised the motorcycle: new fairing, optimized aerodynamics, evolved tubular frame, lighter wheels and reduced unsprung mass for improved handling. Engine (CP2, 689 cc, 73.4 PS) remains unchanged; the electronics have been expanded to a 6‑axis IMU with riding modes, cornering slip control, quickshifter and track functions.
