BioArctic gains after approval of Leqembi autoinjector in China

BioArctic’s share climbed about seven percent after Eisai received NMPA approval in China for the subcutaneous autoinjector formulation of Leqembi. The drug can now be used initially for mild cognitive impairment and mild Alzheimer’s dementia and makes administration easier compared with infusions. BioArctic: FDA approves subcutaneous weekly initial dose of Leqembi for early Alzheimer’s

The FDA has approved a supplemental application for a once‑weekly subcutaneous initial dose of lecanemab (Leqembi Iqlik) to treat adults with mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia due to Alzheimer’s. The therapy is administered as a total dose of 500 mg per week, divided into two subcutaneous injections of 250 mg each, and is expected to be marketed by Eisai at the end of August 2026. Underlying data from substudies of the phase‑3 long‑term Clarity AD trial showed comparable drug exposure and a similar safety profile versus intravenous administration; patients may switch between IV infusion and subcutaneous injection.
