NuRAN Wireless has founded wholly owned subsidiary NuEnergy Ltd, which will own and operate solar, storage and hybrid energy systems for the company’s African operations. NuEnergy is intended to supply rural mobile sites and future edge‑computing nodes and is evaluating the possibility of serving third‑party customers as well. NuRAN has more than 5,000 contracted sites in Africa; the new structure is designed to facilitate infrastructure financing and improve capital efficiency while keeping ownership and supply within the group. NuRAN announces it will equip selected portions of its more than 5,000 rural mobile sites in Africa with modular edge computing nodes. Initial pilots will process network data and cache local content to improve performance for mobile network operators.
