Abbott receives CE approval for Amulet 360 for stroke prevention

Abbott has received CE approval for the Amulet 360 occluder to close the left atrial appendage; the implant is intended for patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation who cannot receive long-term anticoagulation. First procedures were performed at clinics in Frankfurt, Lübeck and Aarhus, and availability will be expanded to other European countries in the coming weeks. The approval is based on the VERITAS study with 400 patients, which showed a successful implantation rate of 99.8% at 45 days and complete closure without leaks >3 mm in 93.9%.
