Alector share falls after failed phase‑3 study of latozinemab

Alector reports that the phase‑3 INFRONT‑3 study of latozinemab (AL001) in frontotemporal dementia due to a progranulin mutation did not meet its primary endpoint, prompting a sharp decline in the stock in after‑hours trading. Despite increases in plasma progranulin concentrations, secondary and exploratory endpoints showed no treatment‑related effects. Alector is halting the study extension and the continuation study with GSK, plans a workforce reduction of about 49%, and will focus on remaining programs such as Nivisnebart (AL101/GSK4527226) and BBB‑platform candidates AL137 and AL050. Alector places focus on therapies for neurodegenerative diseases and GSK partnership

At the investor conference, Alector presented its strategy to develop therapies for frontotemporal dementia and Alzheimer’s and introduced the Alector Brain Carrier (ABC) platform to improve drug delivery across the blood–brain barrier.
