Costain has been appointed by Norfolk County Council to design and build the road infrastructure for the West Winch housing scheme near King’s Lynn. The £122 million contract supports the development of up to 4,000 homes and includes a new link between the A47 and A10, new roundabouts, a cycle path and the four‑lane upgrade of about a one‑mile stretch of the A47. Planning work will start later this year, with construction due to begin in 2027. Costain has won a contract from Severn Trent worth about £45 million to upgrade the Rugby Newbold sewage treatment works. Under the contract, which runs to 2028, Costain will act as lead contractor and principal designer and is to plan and build new assets and upgrade existing systems to improve operational resilience and inlet and stormwater capacity.
