Eni to support commercial fusion power plant in Europe by the early 2040s

Eni plans to promote the development of a commercial fusion power plant in Europe by the early 2040s or sooner. The plant is to be built by Commonwealth Fusion Systems, in which Eni has a stake. Eni presents upstream growth, dividend and transformation plans at EnerCom Denver

Eni outlined a strategy at the EnerCom Denver conference centered on strong upstream production (about 1.8 million BOE/d) with planned annual growth of 3–4% through 2030 and a high reserve replacement rate (167% in 2025). The company confirms a base dividend of €1.10 for 2026, raises its annual share buyback program to €3.4 billion and is considering a special dividend for Q4 2026. Eni plans to reduce investments in 2026–2030 while significantly expanding Plenitude and Enilive (each targeted at €1.3 billion EBITDA in 2026; 2030 targets: Plenitude €2.6 billion, Enilive €3 billion) and is committed long-term to fusion energy through Commonwealth Fusion Systems.
