GRI Bio receives FDA orphan-drug designation for IPF drug GRI-0621
The FDA has granted GRI Bio’s GRI-0621 orphan-drug designation for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), which, upon approval, can provide up to seven years of market exclusivity, potential tax credits and reduced fees. GRI-0621 is an orally administered therapy tested in a Phase 2a trial; in a randomized study of 35 IPF patients it met its primary, secondary and exploratory endpoints. GRI Bio reports positive phase 2a data for IPF candidate GRI-0621
GRI Bio reported from a randomized, double‑blind phase 2a study with 35 IPF patients that the treatment arm showed no cases of cough (vs. 25% in placebo) and recorded a 76% reduction in dyspnea as well as no weight loss (vs. 17% placebo). No serious adverse events occurred in the active arm and the study met its primary endpoint for safety and tolerability. Exploratory lung function measurements showed after 12 weeks an increase in forced vital capacity of 99 ml in the overall cohort and 139 ml in the subgroup receiving standard therapy. As of March 31, 2026, the company had around $11.0 million in cash, which it said should fund operations into the second quarter of 2027; the quarterly net loss was about $2.0 million. » Plus sur de.investing.com
GRI Bio receives patent in the UAE for treatment of inflammatory diseases
GRI Bio has received a Notice of Allowance from the Patent Office of the United Arab Emirates for patent P6000687/2017 for the prevention and treatment of inflammatory conditions. The patent covers various type‑2 NKT cell agonists as well as related methods and compositions and extends protection of the company’s immunomodulatory platform.
