The Atradius Payment Practices Barometer shows that 87 percent of German companies surveyed report payment delays in B2B business and 10 percent record bad debts of five percent or more of their invoice volume. Atradius reports increased insolvencies in the construction trade (3,174 insolvencies Jan–Oct 2025, +9.3%) and criticizes that the billion-euro special fund has so far had little effect in the industry. Brake factors include complex approval processes, rising material prices and a persistent shortage of skilled workers; housing construction remains particularly problematic, with only about 220,000 homes completed instead of 400,000. The sectors most affected would be automotive suppliers, the steel/metal industry and construction.
