The board of directors of The Hanover Insurance Group has approved a new repurchase program for common stock of up to $700 million and terminated the prior program. Purchases may be made depending on market conditions in the open market, through privately negotiated transactions, accelerated repurchase programs or 10b5-1 plans. The announcement comes as the stock trades near its 52-week high; the company has a market capitalization of $6.62 billion and a P/E ratio of 9.53.
