Hippo will act as a fronting carrier for more than $500 million of annually written gross premiums from Accelerant’s U.S. portfolio; the agreement is effective immediately, the full program begins on October 1, 2026 and applies to 2027. Hippo reported booked gross premiums of $332 million for Q1 2026 (+58%) and a combined ratio of 99.5% after an improvement of 60 percentage points. Hippo announced that Stewart Ellis will relinquish his role as Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer on May 1 and will serve as a member of the board of directors from June 3.
