Fairstone buys Laurentian Bank for C$1.9 billion
Fairstone is acquiring the Montreal-based Laurentian Bank for C$1.9 billion and will pay C$40.50 per share in cash. Prior to closing, National Bank of Canada will purchase Laurentian’s private and retail banking business, including C$3.3 billion of loans and C$7.6 billion of deposits, but will not take on branches or employees.
