Novatek founds its own shipbuilding division due to shortage of gas tankers

On March 25 Novatek founded the company Severny Inzhiniring to build ships and floating units itself. The move responds to a sanctions-related shortage of ice-class tankers for LNG transport; Ilja Luschtschikow will lead it. At the same time the Swesda shipyard is building Arc7 tankers for the Arctic LNG 2 project, in which Novatek holds 60% and for which a total of 15 Arc7 tankers are planned. » Plus sur de.investing.com
Senators say Novatek's Arctic LNG 2 sales to China continue amid lax U.S. sanctions enforcement

Four Democratic U.S. senators, led by Elizabeth Warren, warned that weak enforcement of sanctions has allowed Novatek to sell about 14 Arctic LNG 2 cargoes since August, with Chinese buyers receiving discounts of roughly 30–40%. The senators say these sales generate billions in revenue that help fund Russia's war in Ukraine and urged the administration to resume targeted sanctions and require congressional review of any sanction rollbacks.
