Oji Holdings acquires pulp producer AustroCel in Hallein

Japanese paper group Oji Holdings has reached an agreement with TowerBrook Capital Partners to acquire AustroCel in Hallein; the purchase price was not disclosed and the closing is still subject to regulatory approvals. AustroCel most recently posted annual revenues of €182 million, employs around 340 people and has a production capacity of 150,000 tonnes of biomaterials, bioperformance products and biofuels. The company produces, among other things, a new biological hydrogel that can reduce irrigation needs by about 20 percent and increase yields by around 20 percent, and with roughly 30 million liters a year is the world’s largest producer of wood-based bioethanol. » Plus sur kurier.at
