GUSS Automation, a subsidiary of John Deere, is integrating Ouster’s digital Rev8 OS0 lidar sensors into the next generation of its autonomous spraying vehicles for orchards and vineyards. The sensors provide 3D point-cloud data and an ultra-wide field of view to improve navigation and obstacle detection in dusty, foggy and densely vegetated environments. The integration allows a single operator to monitor up to eight machines and is intended to enable precise autonomous operations in high-value perennial crops.
