Rosneft sues federal government over trusteeship of its German subsidiaries

The Russian energy company Rosneft has filed a lawsuit at the Higher Administrative Court Berlin-Brandenburg challenging the trusteeship imposed in February on its German subsidiaries. US exempts Rosneft Deutschland from oil sanctions indefinitely

The US Treasury has extended the license for the German subsidiaries of Rosneft, held in trust, indefinitely. That exempts the PCK Schwedt, Miro Karlsruhe and Bayernoil Vohburg refineries from sanctions on the Russian parent company, securing supplies to Berlin and northeast Germany. Rosneft Deutschland remains under trusteeship of the Federal Network Agency

The federal government has appointed the Federal Network Agency as trustee for Rosneft Deutschland and RN Refining & Marketing based on a new legal basis. The order covers stakes in the PCK Schwedt, MiRo Karlsruhe and Bayernoil Vohburg refineries and is intended primarily to secure supplies to Berlin and Brandenburg as well as the Schwedt site.
