Siemens Energy initiates spin-off of Transformation of Industry and strengthens focus on gas turbines and grids
Siemens Energy has launched the separation of the Transformation of Industry division, which will operate under the Omterra brand going forward, while the group intends to retain a significant minority stake. Siemens Energy plans spin-off of Transformation of Industry unit
Siemens Energy intends to legally separate its smallest unit, Transformation of Industry, and sell it as a whole to investors; initial sale talks are expected to begin soon. The unit generates €5.7 billion in revenue with an 11.3% margin and is valued by Bloomberg at around $10 billion; financial investors such as CVC, EQT, Bain, Brookfield and KKR are assessing bids. The aim is to let Siemens Energy focus on electrification while giving TI more capital and growth headroom; a full carve-out could take up to two years and Siemens Energy is aiming to retain a minority stake. The loss-making hydrogen electrolyser business, which requires patient owners, is the main challenge for buyers. » Plus sur wiwo.de
US restrict imports of power-grid components – advantage for Siemens Energy
The White House has, by presidential order, restricted imports and installation of certain high-voltage and storage components manufactured abroad and declared a national emergency for the power-grid supply chain. The regulation is effectively aimed at Chinese suppliers and is intended to reduce risks to grid integrity. Citi analysts view the order as moderately net-positive for Siemens Energy, because reduced competition is likely to support market share, prices and margins for established suppliers. Siemens Energy in the US still depends on imports and is likely only able to deliver large transformers from the new Charlotte plant from late 2027; key supplier countries are Brazil and Mexico. » Plus sur de.investing.com
