Terrestrial Energy appoints Pamela Cowan as executive vice president of engineering
Terrestrial Energy has appointed Pamela Cowan, effective immediately, as executive vice president of engineering. Cowan will work at the company’s headquarters in Charlotte and report directly to CEO Simon Irish. She brings more than 30 years of experience in the nuclear industry, most recently in leadership roles at Westinghouse and Holtec, and will lead the engineering program with technical responsibility for nuclear safety and licensing. Terrestrial Energy has appointed Kathryn McCarthy to its board of directors. McCarthy brings many years of leadership experience from US and Canadian research labs, including Oak Ridge, Idaho National Laboratory and Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, as well as expertise in delivering large projects. The move is intended to support project execution and the commercial rollout of IMSR plants. Terrestrial Energy signs engineering partnership with Zachry Group for Texas site
Terrestrial Energy has signed a contract with the Zachry Group to provide nuclear engineering services for the Texas A&M-RELLIS project in Bryan, Texas. Zachry will support design, development and licensing activities, including civil, mechanical and electrical engineering and NQA-1 quality assurance. The work will prepare a construction permit application for a commercial IMSR plant to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and follows earlier lease and R&D agreements with the Texas A&M University System.
