Tryg beats expectations in second quarter thanks to strong investment income

Danish insurer Tryg reported a net profit after tax of DKK 874m for Q2, beating analysts’ estimate of DKK 722m. Higher net investment income of DKK 262m offset a court-ordered provision that significantly depressed the reported underwriting result. Adjusted for the provision, the underwriting result rose by about 4% to DKK 2.39bn, and the solvency ratio improved to 196%.
