S&P raises Urban One rating to 'CCC+' after repurchase of secured bonds

S&P Global Ratings has raised Urban One’s corporate and issuer ratings from 'SD' and 'D' to 'CCC+' after the company repurchased subordinated secured bonds at a significant discount in the first four months of 2026, reducing outstanding liabilities by about $56m. The recovery rating was improved from 5 to 4, but the outlook remains negative as declining EBITDA and advertising revenue increase business risk. As of March 31, Urban One had roughly $27m in cash and $32m available under its ABL; S&P expects about $20m of free operating cash flow over the next 12 months. Urban One reports sharp revenue decline and higher-than-expected quarterly loss

Urban One posted a 22.2% revenue decline in the second quarter of 2025 to $91.6 million and a net loss of $1.74 per share, missing expectations. The company cut its full-year guidance from $75 million to $60 million, announced a renewed focus on debt reduction and cost cuts, and the stock moved lower in after-hours trading. CEO Alfred C.
