S&P raises outlook for KeyCorp to "positive" and affirms BBB rating

S&P Global Ratings has raised the outlook for KeyCorp from "stable" to "positive" and left the long‑term issuer rating at "BBB"; the outlook for KeyBank N.A. was also upgraded to "positive" and its rating of "BBB+" was affirmed. S&P cited improved profitability, more conservative risk management, higher capitalization and a net interest margin of 2.87% in Q1 2026 versus 2.58% a year earlier. The common equity tier 1 (CET1) ratio rose to 11.4% as of March 31, 2026, and nonperforming loans and charge-offs declined slightly.
