Acea: more than one in five new passenger cars in the EU are electric

After eight months, the share of battery electric vehicles (BEV) in new registrations in the EU stood at 21.7 percent, almost six percentage points higher than a year earlier; total passenger car registrations rose by 5.3 percent to 7.55 million. Plug-in hybrids made up around ten percent of the market. Chinese manufacturers significantly expanded their market share (e.g., BYD from 0.9 to 2.4 percent); together they reached 9.6 percent compared with 6.2 percent the previous year. German manufacturers showed mixed results: Volkswagen and Porsche recorded declines, BMW only a slight increase, and Mercedes sharply increased registrations in August. ACEA: strong Q3 2025 with marked profit jump

ACEA reports pro-forma EBITDA of €1.84bn for Q3 2025 (+8%) and net profit of €415m (+46%). Operating cash flow remained positive at €19m, and the stock rose 1.15% after the results. For 2025 the company expects EBITDA growth of 8–10% with investments of around €1.6bn; management is reviewing joint ventures in plastic recycling and is planning a possible sale of ACEA Energia in early 2026. Il segmento Ambiente si occupa principalmente del trattamento dei rifiuti e del relativo smaltimento. Il segmento Commerciale e Trading vende e fornisce energia elettrica e gas naturale. Il segmento Acqua fornisce servizi di distribuzione di acqua potabile, comprendenti raccolta, scarico, vendita al dettaglio e all'ingrosso. Questo segmento fornisce acqua a circa 9 milioni di clienti e gestisce il servizio idrico integrato a Roma e Frosinone, nonché in altre zone del Lazio, della Toscana, dell'Umbria, del Molise e della Campania. Il segmento Infrastrutture Energetiche gestisce impianti idroelettrici, fotovoltaici e termoelettrici in Lazio, Umbria e Abruzzo; gestisce l'illuminazione pubblica e artistica; e distribuisce circa 10 TWh di energia elettrica. Il segmento Ingegneria e Servizi svolge attività di ricerca, progettazione, costruzione e gestione di sistemi idrici integrati. Il segmento Estero gestisce l'attività idrica in America Latina.
