Alliant Energy: data centers create 3.4 GW pipeline and drive demand up 60% by 2031

Alliant Energy reported Q1 2026 adjusted EPS of $0.82 (down slightly from $0.83 a year earlier), confirmed its full-year guidance and posted a GAAP profit of $224 million. A contractually secured demand pipeline of 3.4 GW from data centers is expected to raise retail electricity sales by about 60% through 2031 (CAGR ~11%). The company plans $13.4 billion of investments for 2026–2029, has put in place financing tools such as at‑the‑market (ATM) share sales and interest rate swaps, and received a rating upgrade for Interstate Power & Light.
