Bertelsmann merges BMG and Concord and holds 67 percent of the new company

Bertelsmann is consolidating its music business by merging its subsidiary BMG with US company Concord; Bertelsmann will hold 67 percent of the shares, the current Concord owners 33 percent and will receive a one-time payment of $1.16 billion. The combined company is expected to generate pro-forma revenue of about $2.2 billion and will operate under the name BMG. The closing is subject to regulatory approval and is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026; Thomas Coesfeld is to become chairman and Bob Valentine CEO.
