Moody’s downgrades Entain to Ba2 over British gambling tax

Moody’s has cut Entain’s Corporate Family Rating from Ba1 to Ba2 and changed the outlook to stable. The move is driven by expected negative net effects from UK government plans to raise online gambling taxes, which Moody’s estimates at about -£90m (2026) and -£150m (2027) for Entain. The agency expects a moderate deterioration in credit metrics, gross debt above 3.5 times and free cash flow near break‑even. Entain former directors charged with bribery and fraud over Turkey operations

Former directors of Entain, owner of Ladbrokes and Coral, including ex-CEO Kenny Alexander, have been charged by the CPS with offences such as bribery, fraud, tax evasion and perverting the course of justice relating to gambling services in Turkey between 2011 and 2018. The CPS said 11 people face seven alleged offences, with the first hearing set for 6 October at Westminster magistrates court; Entain itself has not been charged and refers to a December 2023 deferred prosecution agreement. » Altro su theguardian.com
