Galp Energia claims net debt stable and reports strong Q1 2026 thanks to Bacalhau

Galp Energia posted strong Q1 2026 results and kept net debt stable despite working capital rising by €200m. Drivers were solid upstream contributions, notably the Bacalhau field in Brazil, and operational measures; refinery margins have recently improved. The company invested €160m to expand 2P reserves and bolstered its renewables portfolio through a sizable wind energy acquisition. Galp bets on upstream growth in 2026 despite conservative financial plan

Galp reported a robust operational year for 2025 with RRC-EBITDA of €3.0bn and upstream production of 111,000 boe/d. For 2026 the company targets upstream production of 125,000–130,000 boe/d and expects group EBITDA of more than €2.6bn as well as operating cash flow of more than €2.0bn. Strategic steps include a partnership with TotalEnergies in Namibia and portfolio reshaping on the Iberian Peninsula (RetailCo/IndustrialCo) to reduce capital-intensive liabilities. Galp Energia reported group EBITDA of €3.0 billion for 2025 and achieved record upstream production of 111,000 barrels per day. Operating cash flow rose to €2.2 billion, free cash flow was €1.2 billion, and net debt stands at 0.5x EBITDA. Weaker refinery earnings resulted from planned maintenance, while the commercial business and convenience retail recorded record EBITDA.
