GreenPower is beginning the second year of its pilot project for fully electric school buses in New Mexico and is now deploying three BEAST buses of the D model: two in rotating service across the state and one in West Las Vegas for vehicle-to-grid tests in the 2026/27 school year. The 40-foot model is state-certified, seats up to 84 students, and supports Level 2 charging up to 19.2 kW as well as DC fast charging up to 85 kW. In the first year, three Nano BEAST buses drove more than 17,000 miles, saved over two tons of CO2 and achieved ranges up to 132 miles; the biggest challenge identified was electrical infrastructure in rural areas.
