Lineage Logistics faces community backlash and regulatory orders over Boyle Heights warehouse fire aftermath

A June warehouse fire at Lineage Logistics' Boyle Heights cold-storage facility left millions of pounds of frozen food destroyed and has caused a persistent rotting-food odor, pest infestations and health complaints among residents. Cleanup crews have removed about 80% of the waste but regulators say toxic material requires hazmat handling and ordered additional odor mitigation measures; the city set an aggressive removal deadline and approved an abatement order. Lineage Logistics warehouse in Los Angeles burns for days, heavy smoke prompts air quality warnings

A massive fire at Lineage Logistics’ Boyle Heights cold storage facility has burned since June 17, forcing crews to fight the blaze from the outside due to compromised insulated roofing and high shelving. Lineage said the fire began during testing of a third-party solar array and that ammonia was removed from the site; the facility stores about 85 million pounds of frozen food. California declared a state of emergency, specialized firefighting resources were deployed, and nearby neighborhoods experienced unhealthy to very unhealthy air quality, prompting distribution of air purifiers and masks. » Altro su yahoo.com
