Mind Robotics appointed Doug Field, former Ford EV and software chief and ex-Tesla/Apple executive, as president to lead development of factory-capable robots. The startup, founded by Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe in 2025, has raised over $1 billion and will test and deploy its robots initially in Rivian’s factories using Rivian training data. Rivian reported Q3 production of 19,751 vehicles (up 85% year-over-year) and 19,248 deliveries (up 45%), and reaffirmed full-year 2026 guidance of 65,000–70,000 vehicles. The company indicated roughly 6,000 R2s were likely delivered this quarter as R1 and van volumes remained flat, supporting Rivian's aim to scale. Rivian reported in its 2025 impact report that the R2 Performance delivers a 50% lifetime greenhouse gas reduction versus the 2022 R1 lineup, reaching its 2030 climate target four years early and producing 58% fewer emissions than a comparable petrol vehicle. The company credits improvements in aerodynamics, weight, efficiency and use of recycled/biodegradable materials across components like floor mats, trim and battery resin trays.
