The European Commission has granted SGT-003 from Solid Biosciences orphan-drug designation for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy, following a positive opinion from the EMA committee for rare diseases. SGT-003 is a clinical-stage gene therapy featuring a microdystrophin construct and a proprietary muscle-specific capsid and is being evaluated in two multinational trials (Phase 1/2 INSPIRE and the randomized, placebo-controlled Phase 3 IMPACT). Solid Biosciences reclassified Ilan Ganot, effective Friday at 4:00 p.m. ET, from a Class III director to a Class I director to achieve a balanced distribution of members across the board’s three classes. Ganot’s new term now expires at the 2028 annual meeting; he is therefore withdrawing from reelection in 2027 and is expected to be confirmed on an advisory basis at the 2026 annual meeting.
