Grupa Azoty posts stronger EBITDA in Q2, shares fall nonetheless

Grupa Azoty reported EBITDA of 334 million PLN in the second quarter after a loss of 71 million PLN a year earlier; the first half closed with 317 million PLN EBITDA. The driver was the chemicals segment, whose revenue rose 50% to 900 million PLN, supported by sales of technical urea and sulfur products, while costs were kept under disciplined control. Grupa Azoty sues Hyundai for up to 2.98 billion euros over Polimery Police project

Subsidiary Grupa Azoty Polyolefins has filed a claim against Hyundai Engineering at the International Arbitration Court in Vienna, seeking up to 2.98 billion euros. The case is based on alleged breaches of the EPC contract and the project Polimery Police not being completed as planned. Es bietet Stickstoffdünger, Stickstoffdünger mit Schwefelgehalt, Mehrnährstoffdünger, phosphorhaltige Düngemittel, Ammoniumnitrat, Kalkammonsalpeter, konzentrierte Salpetersäure und technische Gase an; technische Kunststoffe, darunter Polyamid 6, POM, PP, PBT, PPC, PA66 und Caprolactam sowie Polyamid 11- und 12-Schläuche, Polyethylenschläuche, Polyamid 6-Schläuche und lebensmittelechte Polyamiddärme; und Chemikalien, darunter Oxo-Alkohole, Weichmacher, Melamin und Tytanpol sowie Speziallösungen auf Basis von Harnstoff und Ammoniak. Das Unternehmen produziert und vertreibt auch Katalysatoren wie Eisen-Chrom-Katalysatoren, Kupferkatalysatoren und Eisenkatalysatoren für die Herstellung von Ammoniak, Wasserstoff und Synthesegas, RedNOx, organische und anorganische Chemikalien sowie flüssigen, granulierten, pulverförmigen und unlöslichen Schwefel und Schwefelpastillen.
