Afarak Group widens 2025 annual loss to EUR 8.9m

Afarak Group reports a loss for 2025 of EUR 8.9m compared with EUR 7.2m the previous year, while revenue rose from EUR 128.6m to EUR 141.3m. EBITDA fell to EUR -0.2m and EBIT to EUR -2.6m. The amount of processed material increased by 30.6% to 28,407 tonnes, but production volume fell by 31.3% to 251,257 tonnes; the Zeerust mine was sold mid-year. The loss in the second half amounted to EUR 11.4m, cash and cash equivalents were EUR 7.3m and interest-bearing liabilities EUR 3.4m. Afarak Group warns of around 70% EBITDA drop for 2025 despite revenue increase

Afarak Group expects EBITDA of about €0.7m for 2025 compared with €2.6m in 2024, even though revenue rose to €141.3m. The reason is disappointing market conditions and a lack of recovery in the stainless steel sector, which led to price pressure, a weaker US dollar and lower chrome ore prices. Jorma Nieminen reported that, effective 19 January, he holds a direct and indirect total stake of 13,897,071 shares in Afarak Group, equivalent to 5.02% of the voting rights. Of these, he directly holds 4,586,400 shares (1.66%) and indirectly holds 9,310,671 shares (3.36%) via 4capes Oy and Osuusasunnot Oy.
