British mortgage financier Market Financial Solutions (MFS) has filed for insolvency. Banks and investment firms had arranged loans of more than £2 billion to MFS; Barclays and Atlas SP (Apollo) each extended loans worth several hundred million dollars. Barclays reports a 16% rise in profit for 2025 to just under £6.2 billion and a return on equity of 11.3%. The bank is targeting a return of more than 14% by 2028, driven by further cost cuts and higher revenues.
