China Eastern Airlines showcased AI applications for onboard catering, passenger services, aircraft maintenance and air cargo at the 4th CATA Aviation Conference, including a robot-based onboard catering system, service robots and an AI-driven network management platform. The airline emphasized air-to-ground connectivity and has offered free onboard Wi‑Fi on all widebody flights since July 2026. China Eastern Airlines has released version 2.0 of its international app on the App Store and Google Play. The app offers optimized flight search and booking, expanded seat selection for long-haul flights, a redesigned Trip Hub to manage past and upcoming trips, and more prominently displayed flight information. Newly released NTSB records show that on the China Eastern Boeing 737-800 the fuel switches for both engines moved from "Run" to "Cut off" at about 29,000 feet, after which engine RPMs fell. The data fuel suspicions of an intentionally induced shutdown, but experts say they do not provide motive or a suspect and are not an official conclusion.
