The United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office has granted a patent to Emmerson for its Khemisset multimineral process (Patent No. 2634094, "Processing of Evaporite Minerals"), protecting the core process for the potash project in Morocco. The process is expected to reduce water demand by around 50%, raise the potassium chloride yield from 85% to about 91%, and additionally produce the fertilizer products struvite and vivianite. Emmerson has filed further patent applications in multiple jurisdictions, as the process could be applicable to potash deposits worldwide.
