MCF Energy lets exploration permit at Ammersee expire

Canadian MCF Energy did not renew the “Lech Ost” exploration permit for gas deposits at the Ammersee. The company says it will instead apply for a smaller concession area that is expected to have fewer impacts on municipalities and the watershed. Environmental groups such as Greenpeace welcome the move and see it as a potential turning point against gas drilling plans; as a result, drilling projects by MCF subsidiary Genexco are halted for now.
