Mitsubishi Motors has signed a letter of intent with startup Highlanders to introduce humanoid robots in its plants for tasks such as parts transport and engine assembly. From 2027, production of the robots is to begin in unused buildings at the Kyoto plant, with a targeted capacity of 1,000 units per month. The company has already invested in Highlanders and is considering increasing its stake and a possible external sale of the robots.
