PGE: decline in overall EBITDA despite record results in gas and heat

PGE reports Q1 2026 overall EBITDA down to 4.14 billion PLN (-5% year-on-year), even though gas EBITDA rose 99% and heat EBITDA increased 25%. Weighing on results were lower electricity sales to end customers and high non-cash charges from derivatives. Revenue amounted to 17.45 billion PLN, net profit was around 2 billion PLN and earnings per share were 0.86 PLN. PGE completes strategy review in third quarter — partner for wind project to be named shortly

PGE will conclude its ongoing strategy review in the third quarter and, after no further capacity auctions for 2030 were held, will reassess CO2 costs, the reduced valuations of solar projects and the profitability of its gas division. PGE achieved a record adjusted EBITDA of PLN 12.9bn in 2025, despite reporting a net loss of PLN 3.5bn driven mainly by non‑cash impairments on coal assets (PLN 9.8bn). Revenue fell 5% to PLN 61.4bn, while operating cash flow rose 25% to PLN 13.5bn and net debt declined sharply to PLN 4.2bn. Strong contributions came from distribution networks, district heating and renewables, while coal‑fired generation contracted substantially; investments are focused on grid expansion and renewables.
