Sunda Energy reports a mid-case estimate of 8.0 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) gross for the Halcon exploration prospect (Service Contract 80), equivalent to 3.0 Tcf net to Sunda (37.5% working interest). Tetragon gives a geological chance of success of 24%; the range of gross prospective resources is 1,700–22,600 billion cubic feet (Bcf) (net to Sunda: 638–8,475 Bcf). Operator is Tetragon with equal shares; other partners are PXP Energy and The Philodrill. Sunda Energy has applied for an exploration permit for an area of about 645 km² in the offshore Taranaki Basin that includes the Awakino gas-condensate field. The application follows the announced takeover of Matahio Energy NZ and envisages technical studies of existing well and field data as well as reprocessing 450 km² of 3D seismic within 36 months.
