Alector presents strategic shift to brain-carrier platform

Alector announced at the Morgan Stanley Healthcare Conference its transition from a late-stage clinical developer to a preclinical company with five programs on the Alector Brain Carrier (ABC) platform. Lead program AL137 is slated to be given to healthy volunteers for the first time in Q2 2027, with patient dosing to follow in mid-2027. The company highlights higher brain exposure in primate studies, will keep core R&D in-house, and plans partnerships for drug-specific programs. Alector presents brain-shuttle pipeline and AL137 plan at Cantor health conference

Alector showcased its transferrin receptor–based brain-carrier platform and lead Alzheimer’s candidate AL137, which is slated to enter a Phase I study with subcutaneous dosing in April. Preclinical data show markedly higher drug concentrations in the brain without a significant drop in red blood cells; AL137 is intended to provide full effector function with reduced anemia risk.
