L.B. Foster expands European business with new distribution center in Germany

L.B. Foster has announced an expanded partnership with Expeditors and is setting up a new distribution center in Germany to streamline deliveries on the European mainland. The aim is to improve supply‑chain resilience, shorten delays and simplify customs and trade processes, particularly after Brexit. At the Midwest IDEAS Conference L.B. Foster presented a largely completed portfolio overhaul after divestitures and product exits, which raised the gross margin to 21.4% (last 12 months) and lifted the adjusted EBITDA outlook for 2024 to $41–46 million. Net debt fell to $42 million and the leverage ratio is within target at 1.0x, while available liquidity stands at $107.5 million. Management sees rail technology, precast concrete and steel products as the main growth drivers, plans capacity expansions, selective add-on acquisitions and further organic growth; the UK business has been stabilized after restructuring charges. L.B. Foster posts strong cash generation and debt reduction while Q2 revenue and adjusted EBITDA decline

L.B. Foster generated $17.9 million of cash in Q2, reduced net debt by $13.5 million and cut gross leverage to 1.0x, and reaffirmed full-year guidance including projected free cash flow of $15–25 million. Quarterly net sales fell 3.5% to $138.6 million and adjusted EBITDA declined 4.7% to $11.7 million, largely due to order timing in Rail Products and higher employment costs. Consolidated backlog rose sequentially to $246.1 million with at least 80% expected to be executed by end-2026, while the company continues share repurchases and prioritizes debt reduction and investment in Precast Concrete.
