Schaeffler opens flagship factory in China: humanoid robots build themselves
Schaeffler has opened its first global flagship factory for humanoid robots in Taicang, where a closed production and training system produces six human-like robots that manufacture parts for new robots. The project is intended to demonstrate scale effects but currently runs only in small volumes; the factory starts with 40 employees and is expected to grow to more than 100. Schaeffler received local subsidies in the mid-single-digit million-euro range and recorded incoming orders in humanoid robotics of around €400 million, but sees the technology still in early, often politically driven application phases. At the same time, the crisis in the Chinese electric car market is weighing on Schaeffler (a €240 million write-down), prompting the group to seek closer cooperation with Chinese automakers. » Mais em faz.net
Schaeffler reaches reduction and phased-retirement targets earlier than planned
Schaeffler is seeing higher demand for the phased-retirement program launched in August: instead of the expected 1,300 employees, 1,800 employees (born in 1971 or earlier) have already signed up. The voluntary program to reduce 4,700 positions, running since 2024, is also progressing faster than planned; by 30 September 2026, 3,715 positions have been reached, and the target is now expected by the end of 2028 instead of the end of 2029. The expected savings of €290 million are likely to be exceeded by about 20%, allowing provisions of €84 million to be released. » Mais em n-tv.de
