Federal government seals end for Huawei and ZTE in German 5G networks by 2029

The federal government has contractually stipulated that Telekom, Vodafone and Telefónica must remove all critical Huawei and ZTE components from their 5G core networks by the end of 2026; by the end of 2029 the network management systems must also be replaced. The rules are based on individual contracts rather than administrative procedures under the IT Security Act and give the Interior Ministry the lead role, with the Digital Ministry as well as the BSI and the Federal Network Agency involved in oversight. ZTE to release quarterly results for 31.12.2025 on 7.3.2026; analysts see rising revenues

ZTE is expected to publish figures for the quarter ended 31 December 2025 on 7 March 2026. Three analysts forecast average EPS of 0.397 CNY per share and revenue of around 42.56 billion CNY for the quarter. EU Commission plans to ban Huawei and ZTE from critical mobile networks

The EU Commission is planning a legal basis that would give it a final authority to prohibit the use of particularly high-risk foreign network technology. Brussels could thereby impose mandatory measures that list Huawei and ZTE as high-risk providers and forbid the expansion or continued presence of their components in critical infrastructure.
