Continental Resources to operate Ayacucho 2 block in Venezuela's Orinoco Belt

Continental Resources reached a memorandum of understanding to operate and develop the Ayacucho 2 Block in Venezuela's Orinoco Belt, covering about 126,000 acres with an estimated 30 billion barrels. The company plans a long-term agreement with Venezuela's state oil company within weeks as part of a broader push by US-linked firms to revive Venezuelan crude production. Analysts warn that restoring output will require substantial foreign capital and note lingering risks over contract sanctity and the ability of overseas drillers to scale operations.
