S&P raises Toshiba rating to BB- and keeps outlook positive

S&P Global Ratings has raised Toshiba’s long-term issuer rating from B+ to BB-, while the short-term rating remains at B. The agency expects Toshiba’s EBITDA margin to rise to 11.5–12% next year, supported by cost cuts, improved risk management and stronger results in core businesses. Leverage improved to 5.8x after the LBO; through share sales of Kioxia and debt repayment it could fall to just under 4x by the end of March 2026 and into the mid‑3x range in fiscal 2026. S&P sees further revenue and cash‑flow growth particularly in the energy and infrastructure business and in the hard‑disk business, despite weakness in certain semiconductor and POS system divisions. » Mais em de.investing.com
Toshiba plans 40‑TB HDDs with twelve glass platters from 2027

Toshiba is announcing HDDs with twelve data platters for data centers and servers and aims to offer 40‑terabyte drives for the first time in 2027. To fit twelve platters into a 3.5‑inch housing, the manufacturer is switching from aluminum to thinner glass platters, likely in collaboration with Hoya. The 40‑TB models will continue to use MAMR; in the medium term, Toshiba is considering combining HAMR with twelve glass platters to further increase density. » Mais em heise.de
