Western Asset plans merger of two municipal funds (SBI into MMU)
The boards of the Western Asset Intermediate Muni Fund (SBI) and the Western Asset Managed Municipals Fund (MMU) have approved a planned merger of SBI into MMU. The transaction, expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, is subject to approval by SBI shareholders; SBI common shareholders would be exchanged for MMU common shares, and VRDPS holders would receive corresponding VRDPS of MMU. The merger aims to achieve scale and operational efficiencies which, in the boards' view, would not dilute net asset value or shareholders' liquidation preferences. The funds, managed by Franklin Templeton with Western Asset as sub-advisor, will file a combined proxy and prospectus document with the SEC. » Mais em de.investing.com
